2024 Hartford Audubon Society Mini-Grant Recipients

We are pleased to announce the mini-grant recipients for 2024.  There were 15 mini-grant applications and 8 applications were selected to receive mini-grant funds totaling $5,600.

  1. Horizon Wings will receive $500 to support its raptor rehabilitation program. This is the second consecutive year that we’ve supported Horizon Wings.
  2. Avon Land Trust will receive $500 to support a Chimney Swift tower project that will promote education and community involvement. This project also has funding from the Connecticut Ornithological Association.
  3. Simsbury Land Trust will receive $500 to develop a guidebook for identification and removal of invasive plants and distribute to Simsbury residents and property managers.
  4. Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy will receive $500 for habitat restoration and invasive plant removal at Stout Family Fields in Bloomfield.
  5. Cobb Montessori in Simsbury will receive $500 to enrich school gardens with native plants as a school project incorporating Montessori lessons and school community involvement.
  6. Connecticut Audubon Society will receive $750 to support 3 separate family-friendly, bird-related community programs to be held in Hartford parks.
  7. Lights Out CT will receive $750 to develop a classroom module on the effects of light pollution on migratory birds for middle school students.
  8. Glastonbury Meadows will receive $1,600 for their three-year phragmites removal/abatement project from an important bird marsh area.
